As the field of transplantation continues to evolve and face new challenges, ABTC is strategically positioning certification in transplant coordination and care. With five committees of volunteers from our membership and governing board, we encourage our members to join us in shaping the future of the ABTC certification program. Our committees play an essential role in helping us develop, administer, and continuously update our certification exams and continuing certification programs.

The term of committee membership for each committee is three years. You must maintain your CCTC®, CCTN®, CPTC® ,CTP®  or CTFC credential during your term as a committee member. ABTC committees include:

The Certified Transplant Financial Coordinator (CTFC) Examination Committee is responsible for maintaining the quality and relevance of the CTFC certification exam. Each year, the committee conducts a comprehensive review of the draft exam to ensure it reflects current standards and practices in transplant financial coordination. Committee members carefully evaluate and approve each test item in the pool for potential inclusion, upholding high standards for accuracy and relevance.

The Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC®) and Transplant Preservationist (CTP®) or Procurement Committee and the Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC®) or Clinical Coordinator Examination Committees are dedicated to upholding the integrity and rigor of certification exams for transplant professionals. Both committees conduct an annual review of the draft exam, meticulously evaluating test items in the pool to ensure that each question is relevant, accurate, and reflective of best practices in transplant care.

The Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN®) Exam Committee is dedicated to maintaining the quality and precision of the CCTN® certification exam, which assesses the advanced knowledge and competencies of transplant nursing professionals. The committee will be responsible for conducting an annual review of the draft exam to ensure its content aligns with current practices in clinical transplant nursing. At the annual examination committee meetings, members will meticulously evaluate each test item in the pool, approving only those that meet high standards for inclusion.

The ABTC Continuing Certification Committee is responsible for ensuring a rigorous, effective continuing certification process for transplant professionals. The committee develops, implements, and maintains a system for ongoing certification, allowing certified professionals to demonstrate sustained expertise in their field. This includes creating and managing a mechanism for awarding Continuing Education Points for Transplant Certification (CEPTCs) through approved educational programs.
