The education and training you currently offer your staff can qualify for CEPTCs toward recertification if your organization becomes an "Approved" Provider of continuing education. Approved Providers can offer lectures and educational opportunities with CEPTCs, so this is an opportunity to maintain your staff's certification at a fraction of the cost of sending staff off-site (and often out of town) to external symposia.
Approved Provider status is also available for vendors and professional organizations that want to reach a larger, more captivated audience of highly trained professionals at transplant centers and organ procurement organizations across the country. To become an ABTC-approved CEPTC provider, please read the provider instructions below and complete the online application in the Certemy platform that best fits your needs. ABTC appreciates all of its approved providers and is thankful for their dedication to transplant professionals. If you provide continuing education in transplantation, consider joining this elite group.

"I have the privilege of serving as one of the Clinical Educators for HonorBridge, an Organ Procurement Organization in North Carolina. Our organization has been an Approved Provider for the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC) and offering Continuing Education Points for the Transplant Coordinator (CEPTCs) for our colleagues here at HonorBridge for more than a decade.
As an organization, we are committed to service excellence and one of the ways we ensure that is through ABTC Certification (CPTC and CTP). We require all Organ Donation Coordinators and Surgical Recovery Coordinators in our organization to be certified within 2 years of eligibility. It is through certification / recertification that we ensure these professionals remain competent and current within the field of organ donation and transplantation.
We encourage our colleagues to seek outside learning opportunities to broaden their perspectives but recognize staffing / scheduling challenges may limit their ability to do so. Making training accessible and meaningful through the Approved Provider program has been one of our paramount goals. As an ABTC Approved Provider, we are proud to contribute to the growth and development of our colleagues while ensuring they have enough credits for recertifications through in-house offerings.
An additional advantage of maintaining Approved Provider Status is collaboration and team building. The nature of our work requires our coordinators to be mostly autonomous and geographically isolated. This limits face time with many of our teammates. While we do offer online, on-demand trainings, many of offerings are in-house and create opportunities for our colleagues to congregate and learn.
The ability to offer CEPTCs in-house has saved both time and money. If you are on the fence about whether to become an Approved Provider, consider this: the annual fee for Approved Provider Status is far less expensive than sending just one colleague to one conference. It pays for itself. I highly recommend. "
